SA tourism industry supported to deliver innovative world class tourism offerings
The South Australian Tourism Commission's Experience Development Program (EDP) is now accepting expressions of interest for its second intake. This program aims to bring to life innovative visitor offerings across the state, such as private island holiday stays in Eyre Peninsula, hands-on nature-based experiences in the Riverland, and immersive foraging tours in the Limestone Coast.

Ewe beauty! Extra bus services for Royal Adelaide Show showgoers
Adelaide Metro is increasing its services by over 2100 to accommodate the large crowds traveling to and from Wayville during the show, which runs from August 31 to September 8. There are more than 30 stops within walking distance of the Adelaide Showground, and a show shuttle is available for express travel from the city to the Ridley Gate.

Federal Budget Focuses on Supporting Small Businesses in the Tourism Sector.
Treasurer Jim Chalmers has unveiled the Federal Budget for 2024-25, taking into account the increasing cost of goods and services. Small businesses in the tourism sector will benefit from a rebate on electricity bills and an extension of the instant asset write-off of $20,000 for this financial year. Additionally, the budget includes continued funding for the Approved Destination Status Scheme to support tourism trade from China, an $8.6 million package for Australian live music venues as part of the Revive Live program, and a reduction in the Temporary Skill Shortage visa work experience requirement from two years to one year for all applicants, aiming to attract skilled migrants to work in Australia's tourism industry.

AUD 1.4 million program to boost tourism economy workforce in regional NSW
AU$ 1.4 million campaign to encourage young people, First Nations Australians (aboriginals), seniors and people living with a disability to pursue a career in tourism is being rolled out across regional area of NSW. The ‘NSW Choose Tourism Program’ is funded by the Australian Government and delivered by Destination NSW (Tourism promotion agency of NSW). It will address industry workforce shortages by encouraging Australians to pursue a career in the tourism economy while helping operators to attract, retain and upskill staff.

Tourism Research Australia (TRA) data shows that Sydney attracted 53% of all international visitors to Australian capitals in 2023, with combined spending from domestic and international travellers reaching a record AUD 51.4 billion in NSW. "The NSW visitor economy is spearheading the country's recovery from the pandemic, attracting the majority of international visitors to Australia and setting new domestic benchmarks," stated Destination NSW CEO Steve Cox.
